English Proficiency Assessment

If your child requires an English assessment, or if you are unsure if your child needs an English assessment, please call the New Families Center at 612.668.3700 to arrange your child's intake appointment. An English proficiency assessment will be completed for each incoming student, and will take approximately 90 minutes per student. 

***During Distance Learning EL Assessments will not be conducted***

Please bring your child to the appointment, along with these required documents:

For All Students:

• Proof of your child's birth date (acceptable birth documents include: birth certificate, passport or I-94). 
• Your child's immunization record

For Incoming Kindergartners:

• Your child's Early Childhood Screening record
• The record of your child's most recent physical exam
• Proof of address may be required

For High School Students:

• Transcript/credit information
• Proof of completion of 8th grade for entering 9th graders
• Proof of address may be required
